Construction Materials Testing

The construction materials laboratory has increased its capabilities adding to our scope for Aggregate testing.  CMT currently services several quarries in the region with ongoing QA sampling, testing and advice while the environmental group is involved in material assessments.

2015 saw the start of the Bulga Optimisation project.  The project includes:

  • the realignment of 9km of Broke Road allowing coal operations to continue until 2035;
  • new town water main and private irrigation water mains;
  • construction of a 3km internal road;
  • construction of numerous haul roads across the new Broke Road and rail lines.

RCA is the main geotechnical company involved on the Bulga project providing a range of concrete and soil testing for both Daracon Group and Yore contractors as well as geotechnical assessments and advice.  The project is being serviced with the use of high output – automated laboratory compaction machines that improve both report turnaround times for our clients and OH&S for our staff.

RCA has recently completed the Kooragang Islands remediation project. The project involved the remediation of ‘soft soils’ and the construction of a high permeability cap on both the K2 and K10 berths. RCA provided geotechnical testing and advice for the Georgiou group.
