Clean material is a resource – Don’t waste it
Material that is determined to be virgin excavated natural material (VENM) may be able to be to be transported and re-used on other sites, used for recycling or disposed of to landfill without further classification if it is accompanied with a suitable VENM certificate. The VENM assessment must be undertaken before the material is transported offsite and involves consideration of site history, potential for impact to the material by contamination, inspection of the soil profile and sampling for potential contaminants.
A VENM assessment is required prior to any offsite transport of material and would involve consideration of the history of a site and the potential for impact to the material by contamination, inspection of the soil profile and sampling for potential contaminants.
If you have VENM material onsite that may require offsite disposal it is important to engage us as soon as practicable to undertake the assessment, ideally before any excavation or construction activities have taken place.
RCA Australia understands that the nature of construction works are sometimes highly reactive and that the requirement to undertake a VENM assessment is not always understood at the initiation of a project. RCA Australia are able to quickly respond to requests to minimise project delays and will work with our clients to formulate the best achievable strategy.
